”Make self-talk positive and self-empowering.”  Keeping self-talk in line with what you want to achieve is just a thought away.  Listen to your thoughts.  Recognize your inner dialogue.  When self-talk limits you, question it, challenge it and change it.

For instance, if you hear yourself thinking, “Here I go again, making stupid mistake. I’ll never get it right,” question your inner thoughts.  Ask, “Why am I talking to myself so negatively?”  Then, challenge this negative dialogue by telling yourself, “I can get things right.”

You can change your inner voice.  Just think, “That was no big deal.  I’ll fix it, right now.”  Then fix it.  It’s nearly impossible to ignore your internal dialogue.  Since you can’t ignore it, acknowledge it.  But, don’t let it discourage you.  When it’s negative, turn it around.  Tell yourself something positive and self-empowering.  With this kind of positive self-talk, you can achieve anything!

“It is impossible to listen when you’re talking.”  The ability to keep quiet is one of the keys to successfully listening, both in daily life and when seeking communication from within.

Unfortunately, inner quiet is unusual for most of us.  Even when were alone, we talk to ourselves: we hear the sounds of our own thoughts, remember musical melodies, and so on.  We become easily distracted by random memories, noises and other intrusions.

When you learn to listen, it becomes easier to relax.  Your mind clears more quickly and attentiveness to environment is enhanced.  As you allow yourself to listen, thoughts become less random and more controllable - and, most important, you hear plainly what’s going on inside.

In-Home Childcare

Dear Community Members,

My name is Jaqui Brooks, some of you may know me from my work at the Eagles Lounge, and I am contacting everyone today to let you know that my family is renovating and moving into Terry’s Roberts old place at the end of Cliffe Crescent soon and that I am interested in doing in-home childcare.

We (Joe Thompson) and I have 2 small kids, aged 14 months and 5 years and I would be happy to have a couple of more young kids to run around after as I am going to become a stay at home Mom.

For a reference please call my friend and my own childcare provider, Donna Stirling at 250-286-9977 or myself (Jaqui) at 250-203-9505.
